Big Losers and Sore Losers

Alyssa Branen
After watching the finale of this season's The Biggest Loser, I was very motivated. They all looked great. I figure, if they can do it, so can I. After the show, I went to NBC's The Biggest Loser Club online, and checked out how all the at home players looked. I was amazed at how well they all did, some of them lost over 100lbs. It's a little sad that only a few of them got real recognition on the live show. They should all be very proud.

When I was checking out the message boards, I was not surprised by all the praises and excitement on there. However, I WAS a little shocked at some of the horrible things that people had to say about a contestant named Heather, who could not weigh in at the finale show of The Biggest Loser, because she was five months pregnant. Instead of sending out congratulations and saying how cute she looked, and still quite fit for a pregnant woman, there were people that said awful things like they hated Heather, and wanted her baby to do. Or that Heather probably got pregnant so she wouldn't have to keep up with her diet and wouldn't have to weigh in on national TV and be embarrassed because of it. Others claimed that the time frames didn't add up and that if she really was that far along it had to be one of the guys at the ranch's baby. All of these things are of course, false and unfounded, not to mention cruel. It makes you wonder why people would say such things. I'll tell you why. They are sore losers. I also saw posts saying that the at home players had gastric bypass surgery and just didn't tell the show when they came back. Others said that all the contestants had plastic surgery and tummy tucks done, because they didn't have any excess skin. It's called strength training folks.

There is something deep inside of each of us that causes us to be fascinated by celebrities and TV personalities. Even reality TV personalities. People love to read gossip about these type of people. The top selling stories are the ones that embarrass and make the celebrity look bad. We love to see celebrities looking their worst. Why? It makes us feel better about ourselves. When it comes to a weight loss show, such as The Biggest Loser or Celebrity Fit club, most of us that are overweight are rooting for our fellow overweight people to win, and get inspired but such big weight losses. We all think how it would be for us on the show, and while we might be really envious of their success, we wouldn't call ourselves jealous. However, there are some people that for some reason, are very jealous and use excuses as to why they can't lose weight and pick apart the people that DO lose weight.

These are normally the people that make comments about how "If I had a personal trainer, I would lose weight too." Maybe you would, and maybe you wouldn't,you don't know that. That is merely an excuse. As an overweight person myself, I know that it is I who controls what goes in my mouth, and only I who can make myself workout. Yes, a personal trainer can help you figure out the types of exercises you should be doing to keep getting results, but they are not going to do the work for you. YOU have to do the work. I think The Biggest Loser at home players are the real proof that you don't HAVE to be on TV and at a ranch filled with expensive exercise equipment and personal trainers at your beck and call to lose weight. As overweight people we have to make time to exercise and eat healthy. A slimmer, healthier body is not going to be handed to us. The sooner we all realize that, the sooner we will be having our own weight loss results that other people will be jealous of. People don't need to pick apart other people's accomplishments. They need to work on making and attaining their own goals.

To the contestants on The Biggest Loser, do not let the sore losers get you down.
