Have you seen them yet? They are the commercials which state that just about any controls on gasoline products can lead us back to the bad old 1970's. They say Government price controls or limits to their exploration will lead to the long gas lines of the 1970's. They want us to contact our Congressmen and have them leave Big Oil alone to their exorbitant profits... or else....
Big Oil did do a number on us in the 1970's. Under the guise of Arab oil cutbacks and boycotts they did have us waiting on lines and paying higher prices. Now they are implicitly threatening us again with the long lines if we don't leave them alone. What a nasty thing to do. They are not happy making billions in profits, they want to make even more. They want us to pay all that traffic can bear and then pay more. Why? Because they can. We are afraid of Big Oil, we must be if they think they can get away with such bullying tactics.
They have lost a Big Oil oriented Congress and soon will loose the Big Oil oriented President. So now they are vulnerable and are using strong arm tactics to scare us. Well they do scare me. I wouldn't put worse things than threats out of their capabilities.
I will call my Congressional representatives but not to leave them alone. Rather have them invest more money in processing plants so prices will level out.

I don't watch tv. Thanks for the tip.
Disgusting!
I've seen these ads, and you're right - everything you've said is true. Big Oil tells us they're going broke when every quarter they break their profit records, and CEOs get $5 million dollar annual bonuses, on top of their high 7 figure salaries. They will have to pay, some day. Good article!
Good one!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, And the rich get richer.
Absolutely sickening. Thanks for the report Stephen. Very well written.
Wow, fascinating article. What a shame it is to hear this- I don't watch tv or really keep too up to date on news (sadly enough) to have heard about this previously but im glad im aware now. thank you.
Wonderful article. I have not seen any of these commercials yet, but the idea of it really angers me.
I heard one on the radio about some woman complaining the environmenatlists were trying to cheat her out of buying a huge, gas guzzling car. Profit vs. Right.
