Big Things Poppin' (Do It) by T.I

R.A. Riter
Big Things Poppin' (Do It) is the first song released off of T.I.'s fifth album, T.I. vs. T.I.P. The song was written by the rap superstar and was produced by Mannie Fresh. This song eventually went on to become his third top ten solo song and his fifth overall. Released May 29, there is also an explicit version in which the explicit word replaces 'things'. This song is about people who can talk a good game but can't back it up with their actions. This song was accidently leaked two weeks before the official release. There have been a few unofficial remixes. They include rappers like Fabolous, Cassidy, Swizz Beatz, Lil Wayne, Jim Jones, and Young Hot Rod. This song was released on iTunes on May 22.

The song uses a guitar riff used in the song Top Gun Anthem. The music was used with different lyrics for the theme of a special series aired on SportsCenter. This song has also been featured on the rhythm game DANCE! Online.

The music video premiered on BET's Access Granted on May 16, 2007. Mannie Fresh, 8Ball and a lot of the Grand Hustle roster make celebrity cameos. Shot in Atlanta on May 5, this video was directed by Eric White. This song features T.I.'s alter ego T.I.P., which is the name he began his career as. The video begins in a tour bus, showing the split personalities as T.I. and T.I.P. engaging in a push-up competition. The first person to 100 push-ups gets the opportunity to perform in a show later on that evening, while the loser must stay behind and clean the bus. T.I.P. is constantly mocking T.I. during the video and is seen leaving when the song begins to play.

This song did very well on the few charts that it made it onto. It debuted at spot thirty on the Billboard Hot 100 on June 9, 2007. It eventually made it up to spot nine. It was also able to peak at spot two for the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and the Hot Rap Tracks, and twentieth on the U.S. Billboard Pop 100. This song performed well on a couple international charts, too. It debuted at spot number twenty-one in New Zealand and made it as high as eighth on the New Zealand Singles Chart. It also reached as high as fifth on the Japanese Singles Chart and seventieth on the Canadian Singles Chart.
