Bigfoot's Bust One to Watch as Palm Beach Grand Classic Approaches

You do not have to travel to the Pacific Northwest to try to find a trace of the legendary Bigfoot, not with the greyhound Bigfoot's Bust plying her trade at Miami's Mardi Gras Racetrack and Entertainment Center. Bigfoot's Bust, who hails from the West Virginia oval at Tri-State Greyhound Park, is a not-so-imposing 64 pound racer out of Kiowa Sweet Trey and Revenge Is Mine, at least until the starting box opens. Once that occurs, Bigfoot's Bust usually dominates her opposition with frightening efficiency; so far she has emerged on top in 20 out of her 28 career outings.

Born in December of 2004, the white and red speedster has been a star from the beginning, going from Maiden to grade AA at the tough Tri-State track in seven starts. Once in the top grade there, Bigfoot's Bust scored wins in 10 out of her 15 tries against some of the steepest competition in the nation's greyhound industry. She was so successful that she was taken to Mardi Gras to run in the prestigious Hollywood World Classic, where she acquitted herself extremely well, winning three of her four elimination trials and then finishing second to the phenomenal Flying Stanley in a star-studded final.

In her next time out, which happened to be the Joe Ryan Memorial, Bigfoot's Bust atoned for that loss in a big way. Breaking from the unfavorable five post, she got around second and then proceeded to catch the leader, winning the Memorial by two and a half lengths. Flying Stanley finished fourth, as the Ryan race was the entire World Classic field intact with a few changes in the post-positions. Staying at Hollywood until she leaves for Palm Beach for their $300,000 Memorial Day Grand Classic on May 28th, Bigfoot's Bust has not been idle, winning her last two times out in impressive fashion. She won both races by seven lengths, each from the dreaded five box, and added to her already gaudy times with a couple more sub-thirty-one second clockings on the 1,650 foot 5/16ths of a mile course.

In her career, Bigfoot's Bust has run under thirty-one on 22 occasions, with her 29.97 during the World Classic eliminations the fastest time at Mardi Gras this meet. She has never lost a contest in which she had the lead at the first turn, and she has come from behind in five of her triumphs. Palm Beach is a racetrack that is shorter than most and favors a runner with a big rush to the all-important first turn, with the Grand Classic being run at the 545 yard sprint distance as opposed to the 550 full 5/16ths. Still, her box speed and rushing ability should land her a spot in the finals, where it's a good bet that she will meet up with Flying Stanley once more, as well as six other fabulous sprinters. If this does happen, don't miss it, as it will surely be one of the highlights of the 2007 greyhound racing calendar.
