Biggest Loser Shocker: Jerry is the at Home Winner

Kelly Lang
Shocking even host Alison, Jerry has surprised both cast members and America alike by winning the Biggest Loser: Couples $100,000 At Home prize.

Jerry, the oldest contestant in Biggest Loser history at 63 years old, lost 177 lbs for a total of almost half of his starting body weight. Paired with his wife Estella, Jerry was one of the first to weigh in for the evening and watched, in shock himself, as he topped player after player. Jerry even beat out those who stayed on The Biggest Loser: Couples Ranch up until the very end.

Jerry was an unlikely choice to win the take home prize. Long time watchers of The Biggest Loser: Couples will remember the unforgettable moment, when mere hours into his stay on the ranch, Jerry collapsed and was taken to the hospital.

Jerry returned to the Biggest Loser Ranch after his health scare, but did not remain long. The shocking twist for this season of The Biggest Loser was that nine of the eleven teams on campus sent home their partner after just one week on the ranch. Should the remaining member still be in competition at the end of thirty days, their partner would be allowed to return. Jerry lasted one week on the ranch without his wife, Estella, at his side and was quickly eliminated in week two.

The fact that Jerry was voted of the Biggest Loser Ranch after just two weeks is what makes his win all the more unbelievable. While the majority of the rest of the contestants had weeks or months to benefit from the trainers, diet and isolated atmosphere of The Biggest Loser Ranch, Jerry did nearly all of his work, at home, with only his wife by his side.

Jerry was joined on stage after his $100,000 win by his wife and granddaughter. With five diseases and six medications completed eliminated from his life due to his amazing weight loss, Jerry has many more years to look forward to with his family and grandchildren.

This is aabsolutely amazing. This was really will power, and having done it himself alone, made this feat even more remarkable. Thanks for sharing.

Barbara, I seriously wondered what was going on myself. It's true that the show accomplishes amazing results, but those on campus work out ALL day, EVERY day, and have supervised diets. I'm not saying it's impossible to lose weight at home, but Jerry's loss was DRAMATIC. I didn't suspect surgery myself, but more of maybe a possible eating disorder or insane calorie restriction.

What makes me question that theory is that he actually kind of had some guns going on, indicating some actual muscle!

I find it hard to believe that Jerry could lose that kind of weight on his own. I think he had bypass surgery. Other contestants worked their butts off day and night at the ranch and only Mike lost more weight than Jerry. Something's cockeyed...

I was so happy that Jerry won! I was rooting for Mike to win the big prize, but was just as happy for Helen. She worked hard and looked great. I was also surprised to see how much Kristin had slimmed down even more during her time at home.
