Biggest Loser - Wii Game Review

Walter Kovacs
Biggest Loser for the Nintendo Wii is a fun game that can actually help you get in shape. The graphics are awesome (for the Wii), the exercises are actually strenuous, and the user interface is fantastic.

In Biggest Loser, the most important thing is obviously the exercises that help you lose weight or get toned. These are the backbone of the game. The exercises in this game range from woodchops to push-ups. These exercises will also be made into challenges as you move farther through the game. Depending on your goal, you could be weighing in against the computer contestants. Winning the challenges will give you an advantage in weigh in, as well as help you lose weight in the process. The exercises range from placid to strenuous. There are some exercises that will have you sweating buckets, whereas other exercises will just help your flexibility and body control.

Now let's move on to the epic User Interface of Biggest Loser. The User Interface for this game is great. The colors are vibrant, the menus are easy to navigate, and the Heads Up Display that shows up during your workout is fluid. The framerate of the game is top of the line, and can't even be compared to many other Nintendo Wii games. The only problem I have with the User Interface is that the cursor moves much too quickly. If you have a large TV, you have to stand at almost the limit of Wii Remote Range to have the cursor move at a reasonable speed. Having the cursor move too fast makes navigating pages and typing anything a burden.

While you are working out, a Heads Up Display will show up. There is a constantly moving bar that tells you how well you are holding a specific position. For each set of exercises, there are little icons that will appear. There are five total spaces for icons, and the amount you get in each exercise shows how well you did.

This is a fantastic game, and if your goal is to lose weight or to just get toned, this is the game you want. It blows Wii Fit or Wii Fit Plus out of the water with its graphics, fluidity, and workout routines. This game is the epic win of all workout games so far for the Wii. A word of advice, the game is best played with the Wii Balance Board, but there is an option to play without it. I would rate this game a 9 out of 10.
