Biggest Sports New Year's Resolutions

What's Your Resolution?

So you just made your 2008 New Year's Resolution...you're going to get more exercise, stop smoking, eat better. Though the traditional New Year's Resolution is great and all (especially yours!), it is important to keep in mind your Sports New Year Resolution as well.

Here are a couple of ideas for your Sports New Year Resolution...

1. I resolve to play more fantasy games this season (or begin playing such games).

Sure, it is great that you are a huge MLB, NFL, or NBA fan (heck, even the NHL fan works here!). However, you've never played your sport's fantasy game. This is the year to change that. Research the game options available to you, as well as the fantasy sports resources you'll need to be successful in whichever fantasy sport you decide upon. Fantasy sports has become one of the biggest hits in America's history, and the fantasy games are definitely here to stay. You will come to appreciate your team and your sport so much more by immersing yourself in the players and their respective abilities.

2. I resolve to be a better fan of my favorite teams.

This one may seem obvious, but there are actually some sports fans who don't always follow or keep track of their teams and progress throughout the season. Simply put, if you don't watch enough of your favorite teams, take a real attempt to find a television station or radio station that broadcasts their games and commentary. Buy books describing your favorite team's history or best players. Appreciate your franchise's history and impact on their league today.

3. I resolve to eat better foods when watching sports.

Believe it or not, this is one of the most popular sports resolutions in the US today. Try substituting some crunchy vegetables or small fruits (like grapes or strawberries) in place of those greasy potato chips. They can really add up, and you'll feel better when enjoying your favorite sport on television.

Whatever your resolution, I hope that each and every one of you have a fantastic 2008 sports year. If 2007 was any hint, 2008 should be an absolute blast. What is your 2008 Sports New Years Resolution?
