Saturday Night Live may have slipped a bit over the years-but the Bill Hader Charlie Sheen impression was on the money and definitely worth the watch. It would have been hard for Saturday Night Live to ignore the entire Charlie Sheen situation and how laughable it has become. But SNL didn't ignore anything and the opening sketch of the show poked some serious fun at Sheen with Hader leading the way.
Let's get right to where you can watch the Bill Hader does Sheen video. Here is a link to the incredible impression. If you don't think Hader is pulling off a classic Charlie Sheen rant, look away and just listen to the voice or audio of Hader. Hader has the gravelly voice down to perfection. Hader also has the look down, too and it's not so surprising he was the choice to play the "Two and a half Men" star. This is the kind of skit that could become a weekly bit. It certainly is likely to resurface as long as Charlie Sheen continues his antics. The Hader impersonation is SNL at its absolute best. When SNL mocks real life, that's when the show can truly be extremely comical.
The skit would be fantastic even if the lines Hader offered up as Sheen weren't funny-but that's not the case. With the bad boy and girl guests, Hader throws out "Winning" and "Duh" so many times it has to eventually tickle you--especially if you have been following this Charlie Sheen spectacle over the past few weeks.
In fact, this might be one of the best and most timely sketches SNL has offered up in a few years. It was that good and definitely worth watching if you didn't see it live last night.
Many people probably tuned in to SNL because Miley Cyrus was scheduled to be the guest. Miley Cyrus did a decent job playing host and was often funny in various sketches. As mentioned above, Cyrus even played a bubbly Lindsay Lohan in the Bill Hader Charlie Sheen sketch. While the Miley Cyrus SNL appearance turned out well, it was definitely upstaged by the incredible Charlie Sheen impersonation from Bill Hader. This is the kind of impression that will put Hader into Will Ferrell and Dana Carvey territory-it was just that good without being completely over the top.
Hader deserves major kudos for pulling off the impersonation-let's hope we see it again next week.
