Bill Maher: But I'm Not Wrong Premiered - Sarah Palin, George W. Bush, and Teabaggers Targeted

Bill Maher: But I'm Not Wrong premiered on HBO Saturday night in which he went after Sarah Palin, George W. Bush, and teabaggers. In his latest stand up special for HBO that lasted about 80 minutes, Bill Maher: But I'm Not Wrong tackled a number of political issues of the day including health care, bankers, John Edwards, the troops, and indebtedness to China. Bill Maher: But I'm Not Wrong took place at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh, North Carolina. Those who believe in religion or who are conservative in thought will not enjoy this show. He's vintage "anti-Jesus" and "anti-Bush 43" in this program.

Bill Maher: But I'm Not Wrong Premiered on HBO: "We love the troops the way Michael Vick loves the dogs"

The liberal host of Real Time and self-proclaimed atheist and pothead came out to the audience as his regular political discussion show theme music played in riveting style, and got on North Carolinian John Edwards right away by quoting the former Senator's words of "There are two Americas" by adding to that "and he was getting laid in both."

He said some raunchy things about Christians, including bringing up Billy Graham and Pope Benedict XVI, who he said went to Africa "for a reunion with Rommel". He spent several minutes of Bill Maher: But I'm Not Wrong employing comedic bashing of religious people and religious institutions. He talked about how people had to drive 300 miles to see his anti-religious movie Religulous by quipping that they'd have to drive the same 300 miles to get an abortion, too. He blasted the Catholic church for being against the use of condoms and George W. Bush for being against stem cell research. He referred to Jesus Christ's death as a "suicide mission."

Concerning the military, he remarked, "We love the troops the way Michael Vick loves the dogs", stating that they should be allowed to come home from their "pointless errands" and wrung his hands over their low pay and health care treatment to the rousing cheers of the audience. During Bill Maher: But I'm Not Wrong, the comedian blasted the war on drugs by saying that it continues to go on, yet brought up Keith Richards being alive still while questioning America's obsession with Michael Jackson's death.

Bill Maher: But I'm Not Wrong - Teabaggers and Birthers Blasted for Being Racists

The Real Time host went after the birthers by stating, "I will show you Obama's birth certificate when you show me Sarah Palin's high school diploma" and accused the birthers of being racists who were up in arms because President Obama has a birth certificate that's like everyone else's. He lampooned teabaggers for having a love for the 1950s, a time Bill Maher joked that was basically good for white people only and when men abused their wives, using The Honeymooners Ralph Cramden as the example. He also laundry-listed the lack of chances of Republicans getting the Presidency back in 2012 by going after the likes of Sarah Palin again, Mitt Romney, Bobby Jindal, and Mark Sanford, the latter who he praised for showing real love for his mistress, compared to how politicians normally deal with their bellywarming activities. The comedian advised President Obama to get a little "Bush and Cheney" into his personality when it comes to being tough about getting his policies passed.

Agree with him or not, Bill Maher tells you what he thinks without holding back and kept the pace going during his monologue. Unlike a lot of comedians, he can do a whole show without bringing up the wife/girlfriend and kids. For that alone, he gets a thumbs up.

Real Time with Bill Maher is scheduled to have it season premiere Friday, February 19.

THIS IS THE CONCLUSION OF MY COMMENT ABOVE, WHICH WAS CUT OFF:

I hope he realizes that they are not the ones who tune in to his show, or pay to see him. He does not need to "dumb down" his performances for his audience. I was very disappointed, and hope that when "Real Time" returns next week, he gets back on track.

One last point, as mentioned above, I set my DVR for his show, and it ended after sixty minutes, but I hear it went on for another twenty minutes. That is HBO's bad, or they censored him, which is REALLY HBO's bad. I would like to know what was up with that.

Bill and HBO get a "thumb's down" for "But I'm Not Wrong". He may not have been wrong, but he was not funny, either.

I have always been a big fan of Bill Maher, back to the "Politically Incorrect" days, and watch "Real Time" each week, when it airs on HBO. I have watched all his HBO specials, and had he appeared in my town, I would have paid to see him. However, his HBO show last night was stale, crude, gratuitous, and lazy. He had several opportunities for big laughs by zeroing in on more contemporary subjects (example - he made a "retard" joke about GW, and failed to capitalize on Palin's hypocrisy toward Limbaugh's use of the word), and just passed them up. Bill is supposed to be a political satirist, but last night, he was just another "blue" comedian going for the cheap laugh, and he was rarely funny. I thought it was a lazy and predictable performance, and I am glad that I did not have to pay to be in the audience.

I am sorry to have to write this, but I expect a more intelligent show from a guy who agrees with me that there are a lot of "stupid" people in our country. I hope he realiz

My wife and I were at the show last night in Raleigh, and being in the room was quite enjoyable. The energy was good and the audience really seemed to be having fun. Of course Maher's hot buttons are religion and politics (I wish he had done more on religion) so I think you can expect much of the same kind of material. And yes, Palin is a cheap target for easy laughs. But all and all, it was fun and it's only those who can't see the possible insanity in their own ideals and can't laugh at themselves that would have a hard time with this kind of humor.

I usually love BIll Maher but I thought this show was slow and not as funny as other HBO specials. I mean his loudest crowd response was from, "I'll show you Obama's birth certificate when you show me Sarah Palin's high schoool diploma." VERY LAME.. I think Sarah Palin is a joke but Bill has beat this dead horse into the ground and now he just appears to hate fertile women.

His religion routine wsa tamed way down..The God Jesus routine was SO NOT FUNNY and he could have ran with the Mormon religion but stopped with the Pope joke, The Pope has a facebook page the relationship status is unsure (or something like that) NOW Bill this ancient relic of a Pope is WAY funnier than that.

Sorry but this was an outdated routine.

I don't find any humor in poking fun at anyone. Not my style - there is enough "funny" stuff in the world. Cheers.

The show also premiered on HBO Canada, but they cut out partway through the burqa fashion show the first time they aired it, and completely edited it out the second time (yes, I stayed up to watch it on the second channel to see if they'd fix their mistake and show the whole thing). They seemed to think the show was an hour show, instead of the 80 or so minutes that it probably was.
