Bill O'Reilly Versus Hillary Clinton

Tom Treloar
Wednesday and Thursday evening Hillary Clinton was on Bill O'Reilly's show. I watched the show in its entirety. First, let me state where I stand before I write what this interview did for me. I am an unaffiliated voter. I was raised a Democrat and for many years I voted down party lines without question. As I became older I started to question my affiliation and decided to become an unaffiliated voter mainly for the fact neither parties has my loyalty. I vote for the person, not the party. During the 2000 presidential election I became disenchanted with the main stream media because of the obvious bias they demonstrated for the Democratic candidate. I started watching FoxNews at that time and have continued to be a viewer.

It was surprising that Hillary consented to this interview since FoxNews has the reputation of being a right leaning organization. It did not surprise me that the interview was broken into two evenings because that means they have the viewers for two nights. Anyway, Bill asked Hillary tough questions and Hillary responded very well. She appeared very relaxed and showed strength. This interview let me know where Hillary stands on many issues that are important to me. I now feel better about Hillary because I want a president who is strong and can stand up to all the threats this country must encounter. She showed me a side of Hillary that I never saw before. In my opinion this interview helped Hillary gain on her opponent. For example, she was exposed to a large audience that was not the normal left leaning audience that the main stream media caters to. Like FoxNews or not, this media has acquired a large market share. Would I vote for her? It is too early to say.

Next Thursday John McCain is put into the hot seat against Bill O'Reilly. I will be there and see how John handles the O'Reilly questions. I am confident Bill will be just as forceful with John as he was with Hillary. I am sure a lot of the left leaning critics will say Bill was easy on John. We will see. Will John McCain put on a good showing like Hillary? We will know Thursday evening.

It would be nice to see Barack Obama agree to a hot session with Bill. If he doesn't agree this will more than likely seal my decision on who to vote for if he becomes the Democratic nominee. I have not decided on who I am going to vote for in November. However, the Bill and Hillary interview gave me a totally different opinion of Hillary.

Why would you hinge your vote on who agrees to appear on Bill O'Reilly's show? Wouldn't the issues themselves matter a tad bit more than some bombastic talk-show host?
