Billabong Surf Camp: A Great Place to Learn to Surf

Rik Rodriguez
When I was a lifeguard at Sebastian Inlet State Park in Florida I had the pleasure of working with Sebastian Inlet Surf Camp, which is run by Billabong. They have a great set up, the instructors are professional and great surfers I might add! Everyone, yes, everyone that I have seen attend the surf camp catches waves and rides them. It may not always be the first day, but by the end of the week they will make sure that you are up and riding those waves.

Here is a little over view that I found on their website. I have added my comments as I know first hand how they operate.

- Overnight Boy's and Girl's Summer Camp. They usually camp at Sebastian Inlet State Park located along A1A near Sebastian, Florida.

- Surf Lessons with qualified Instructors. They have some of the best surf instructors I have seen in the world. They are very patient, knowledgeable, professional and well qualified.

- Learn to Surf with visiting Pro Surfers. They bring real pro surfers to teach you every year.

- Ocean Awareness, Safety and Education. The most important thing that they teach!

- Daily and Nightly activities. They always have plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained and well supervised.

- All Surfboards and Equipment provided. They provide surfboards for beginners that are easy to get up and riding on.

- Great Prizes for all. They have little contests and prizes to keep spirits up, get the kids involved and add a special little something for the kids to take home to remember their experience.

The kids all have a lot of fun and get to learn to surf, besides all of the points I just mentioned.

The instructors care about your kids and treat them with respect. Not only do they care if they learn to surf but they want them to enjoy the experience. Their emphasis on safety and ocean awareness is something every surf camp should make a priority. Sebastian Inlet Surf Camp certainly goes the extra mile to make sure all the kids understand the ocean and respect it.

They have a great website that explains everything that they do, you can even take a virtual tour of their activities. If you are thinking of really learning to surf or you just want to have fun and hang at the beach for a few week in the summer, I suggest that you check out Sebastian Inlet Surf Camp. You will be glad that you did, it will be an experience that you will never forget.
