Billboard.Com's Mid-Year Music Awards

John Myers

The results of Billboard.com's Mid-Year Music Awards are in, and pop divas Britney Spears and Lady Gaga are the big winners. The awards for the best in pop music during the first half of 2011 were voted upon by the public in a week-long poll run by the music magazine's website. In all, hundreds of thousands of votes were cast in eleven categories, including best song, best album, best video, best concert tour, and more, and the two pop divas came out on top in seven of those categories. Here are the results:

First Half MVP '" This award was given out for best overall during the first half of 2011. In this category, Britney Spears edged out Lady Gaga to take home the most highly regarded prize. British crooner Adele came in a distant third.

Best Newcomer '" In this category, rapper Wiz Khalifa, who finally broke through big time this year with his set, "Rolling Papers" and the massive hit "Black and Yellow," took the honors over indie rock band Bon Iver and hip hop collective group Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA).

Top Song '" There were a plenty of choices in this category, with several big hits to choose from. In the end, Britney Spears' "Hold it Against Me" barely beat out Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," with Adele's magnificent "Roling in the Deep" coming in a distant third.

Top Album '" Once again, Ms. Spears' took the top spot with her smash "Femme Fatale," with Gaga's "Born This Way" and Adele's "21" placing second and third, respectively.

Best Music Video '" Spears' video for the third single off of "Femme Fatale," the catchy "I Wanna Go," won the honors for best music video of 2011 so far. Lady Gaga's "Judas" came in second with Katy Perry's comical "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" took the third spot in the voting.

Best Comeback '" Former Latin pop princess and current American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez received a nod for comeback of the mid-year for her fantastic new album, "L.O.V.E.?" Rapper Lupe Fiasco and Britney Spears round out the top three spots for this honor.

Most Memorable Meltdown '" In one of the more interesting mid-year award categories, Chris Brown's famous meltdown on the set of Good Morning America won the dubious honor, followed by a drunken concert performance in Serbia by "Rehab" singer Amy Winehouse and a major cuss-out of the audience by rap group Odd Future at Billboard's SXSW Showcase concert.

Best Tour '" Once again, pop princess Britney Spears took top honors for her current tour in support of "Femme Fatale," followed by Lady Gaga's "Monster Ball" and U2's "360 Tour."

Rounding out the winner's circle for the Billboard.com Mid-Year Music Awards are Lady Gaga's Performance at Radio 1's "Big Weekend" Music Festival (Best Festival Performance), Beyonce's performance of "Run the World (Girls)" at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards (Best Awards Show Performance), American Idol (Best Music Reality Show), and Lady Gaga (Best Style).
