Billie Holiday was an American Jazz singer and songwriter during the 1930's and 1940's. She was a very influential African American woman in many ways and her makeup was not the least of them. Below you will find step by step instructions on how to recreate Billie Holiday's classy and timeless look. Also, there is a list of supplies you will need. Please read the list and the complete instructions before you begin. This look is appropriate for going out at night and possibly a business dinner. This makeup application will make your face pop and you will be noticed. I hope you enjoy the look as much as she did.

You Will Need:

Moisturizer

Concealer

Foundation

Dark Brown Eye Brow Pencil

Shimmery Blue Powder Eye Shadow

Dark Flesh Toned Lip Pencil

Deep Burgundy Crème Lip Color

Hot Pink Powder Blush

Now that you have all of your supplies laid out in front of you, we can begin. Your makeup should be done after you have dressed if it is at all possible. If not, wear a model's net to protect your makeup and your hair. This makeup application is for people with darker skin tones, though it can be modified to match slightly lighter toned people.

Prepare your skin with moisturizer and let it dry completely. Dab off any excess if necessary.

Use a light amount of concealer on any blemishes and blend it with a sponge. Also use your foundation sparingly. Blend it from the center of your face and out. Don't forget your eyelids.

Brush your eye brows straight out, with a bit of a curve midway. Fill them in using a dark drown eye brow pencil.

Wash your entire eyelid with a shimmery blue powder eye shadow. Work from Lash line to brow line. Also apply lightly and add coats as you need to in order to get the desired effects.

Optional: Line the very inside of your eyelids with a dark black liner. Line from corner to corner. Also apply one coat of black mascara to both your top and bottom lashes.

Line your lips with a dark flesh toned lip liner. Fill in your lips with a deep burgundy crème lip color. Use a lip pencil for desired effect. Blot and reapply your lip color.

Using a large blush brush, apply pink powder blush to your temples cheeks and chin.
