Billy Ray Cyrus and His Wife of 17 Years Are Divorcing

Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife of 17 years are divorcing. Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have filed court documents in a Tennessee court stating that they have "irreconciliable differences."

Billy Ray and Tish are the parents of 17 year old Miley Cyrus. Miley was born Destiny Cyrus but earned the nicknamed "smiley" as a baby. It eventually turned into "Miley." Her parents have been criticized on numerous occasions because they have allowed her to pose wearing only sheet in photos, wear provocative clothing and dance and sing erotically. Who knows may be Miley took advantage of the weaknesses in their marriage or may be their differences on raising Miley took its toll on their marriage, we may never know.

The Cyrus' wed in December of 1992, they filed for divorce on Wednesday.

Tish "Leticia" Cyrus had two children from a previous marriage that Billy Ray Cyrus adopted when they were little, Brandi and Trace, and raised as his own. They have tried to raise their children in a normal household as much as possible and shielded them from Hollywood until Miley was cast in her Hannah 'Montana' role.

Billy Ray and Tish have three children together, Miley, 17, and Noah, 10, and a son Braison. Miley is best known as 'Hannah Montana', a television star among kids and tweens. Miley has turned her success into a music career.

The Cyrus' have always shown a united front in their marriage and for any issues regarding their children. It is surprising to hear that Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus are divorcing after being married for 17 years.

Billy Ray starred on his daughters popular show 'Hannah Montana' after a one hit wonder "Achy Breaky Heart" and a hit television show 'Doc' from 2001 to 2004. He has come along way since his mullet hair style days.

Hopefully Miley will not go down the path of Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears after her parents split up which is what some people fear will happen anyway. Miley has dated older men, been seen giving lap dances and many other questionable behaviors but at least we don't see her in over 21 night clubs yet.

There is no word yet who will get custody of their three underage children or whether or not there will be a fight for them. Hopefully Billy Ray and Tish will be able to work things out for the sake of Miley, Noah and Braison Cyrus because a divorce certainly will not be good for any of them.
