Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus to Divorce

The parents of Disney starlet Miley Cyrus are divorcing after 17 years of marriage. Papers have been filed in Tennessee citing irreconcilable differences. Married in 1992, Billy Ray and Tish married in December 1992 and have three children from their marriage (daughters Miley and Noah Lindsey and son Braison). Billy Ray adopted Brandi and Trace, the two siblings from Leticia's previous marriage. Billy also has a son, Christopher Cody (born 1992), from a previous relationship with Kristin Luckey.

The couple issued this statement -

"As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family," the pair said in a statement,People magazine reports. "We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers."

From 1986 to 1991, Billy Ray Cyrus was married to Cindy Smith, with whom he co-wrote the songs "Wher'm I Gonna Live?" and "Some Gave All", both of which were featured on his 1992 debut album Some Gave All.

Cyrus was partnered with Karina Smirnoff in the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars. They were eliminated in the eighth week.

It is sad to see any marriage break up - let alone one that has lasted for 17 years. People Magazine has reported that there will be no custody battle and that the couple have joint custody of their children Miley, Braison and Noah. Miley, of course, will be 18 on 23 November 2010.
