Binging the Outdoors in

The bedroom seemed so out of place, once I finished the bathroom. I decided I need to carry the theme. First I painted the walls light blue. My husband said he wanted it to look like dusk, so starting at the top of the wall, I incorporated, darker blues and greys with my dry brush, blending the colors together on the wall. the further down the wall the lighter the colors I used.

I painted a darker blue from the floor about 4 feet up. This would be my ocean. ( I live in VirginiaBeach). using white paint and the dry brush I feathered in the waves. In the middle of the wall above the bed I painted a sunset. I started with a bright orange circle in the middle, feathering hints of white and yellow paint in it. Then I worked out from the sides of the circle, feathering shades of pinks, yellows, and some purples, till the whole middle of the wall from one side to the other was sunset.

On another wall I painted a large lighthouse. around the bottom of it I painted rocks. Using gray, brown, white and black paint, I started at the bottom for the lighthouse making semi circles. Then I would overlap the circles working my way down the wall alternating with different shades of grey and brown with speckeled hints of white and black. I also when that was dry I added a small house in the distance. The background for the lighthouse was part sky and part ocean. In the ocean I painted small ships in the distance. since we live near a Naval Air town in the sky I painted small planes.I also added a few small planes in the distance on the wall with the sunset. Of course I could not leave out my love for sea gulls so I painted them in the sky around the room also, and when they dried put on a coat of glow in the dark paint. The wall the lighthouse was divided by a window. On the wall on the other side of the window I painted a beach with some pompas grass. Thankfully the other two walls had furniture and doors, so they were just ocean and sky.

It looked great, but the white ceiling didn't match. I painted it a dark blue reflecting of the ocean. Using a small pointed paint brush, I dabbed small specks of only glow in the dark paint ( using white first, would have looked out of place during the day ) but the stars would be there at night. On the window I hung a pair of dark blue curtains that had a shimmer in them.

Admittedly, the room is not bright, but it is romantic and every night we sleep on the beach , looking up at the stars.
