Bingo Month- a Game to Celebrate in December Events

Christine Cadena
With history dating back to the 1920s, Bingo has been a favorite past time for adults and child alike. From simple bean and card play to serious gambling bingo, persons of all talent and experience can enjoy a game of Bingo without driving far from home. In December, the game of Bingo is recognized as the Bingo Month when millions of people, worldwide, will pull out the traditional bingo cards and begin the never ending quest to yell, "Bing-O!"

As a game which is believed to have originated in Italy, Bingo has evolved into a game that is played, across America, every night of the week. In any major town or city, in the United States, there is a Bingo game to be enjoyed. While most Bingo locations cater to the Bingo gambler, there are many which provide Bingo without a monetary investment.

What is not commonly known, by most Bingo gamers, is the existence of a National Bingo Game Association and The Bingo Association, both outside of the United States. While these associations are based in the United Kingdom and England, respectively, many of its guidelines and protocols are practiced in Bingo gaming sessions across the United States today.

Bingo, in some form, has been played since the early 1500s and was a common past time among Italians but, not until the 1920s, did the American version of Bingo spread into a commonly played household game. And today, we have over a million Americans who regularly participate in Bingo at local Bingo parlors and halls throughout the country.

As December is the month in which to recognize the game of Bingo, many Bingo enthusiasts seek out an opportunity to win money during this time of the year. While the odds of winning money may be based on a variety of factors, one such factor lies in the number of other participants on game day. The fewer the participants, the greater the likelihood that you will hit Bingo before another player. As a result, many Bingo parlors and halls, during December, welcome the increase in Bingo play especially during non-peak hours.

As an opportunity to participate in the Bingo Month recognition, consider making Bingo part of your holiday or New Year's celebration event. Using simple card stock, colored construction paper, beans, coins or markers, a game of Bingo can easily be created in the convenience of your home. As an added bonus, award a door prize to the first person to yell, "Bingo!" this holiday season.
