Binny's Beverage Depot in St. Charles, Illinois - a Review

Brad Kamer
Located at 1950 Lincoln Highway in St.Charles, Illinois is the large liquor chain store known as Binny's Beverage Depot. The store opened up in 2006 and has been serving Saint Charles and Kane County residents with their wine, beer, and spirits. The main competition to binny's appears to be the super clubs such as Sam's and Costco located on nearby Randall Roads.

I have frequented Binny's on occasion though it is not my only store of choice when it comes to beer and wine purchase. I also patronize the local Sav Way liquor store in Geneva as well as purchase at the Jewel Foods location in St. Charles. The experiences at Binny's have been generally positive ones with a few hiccups here and there with regards to service, availability, and pricing.

Binny's Beverage Depot - The Service

Just about anytime I walk through the glass doors into Binny's I am offered a warm hello by the nearby counter staff. If I do not get a quick hello from that person, I will likely be intercepted by staff on my procession down to the beer for another hello. I have never had any issue finding staff readily available to answer my questions or provide suggestions. I appreciate the quick resourcefulness of the employees and their willingness to help.

The downside to the fast friendly service is the bombardment of samplers that are always on hand at Binny's on the weekend. I generally do not consume any heavy excess of alcohol and my wish list usually consists of my macro beer of choice or occasional purchases of local micro brews. Searching these aisles, it will not be long before getting nagged by solicitors pushing their liquor or specialty vodka that just does not interest me. They push their products to the limits of annoyance. I am just here for my twelve pack of macro beer and out the door.

Binny's Beverage Depot - Availability

I can always depend on Binny's to offer my macro beer whether in can or bottles. The nice part of Binny's is the sizable volume of beers whether domestic or imported that are kept in cold storage. This is nice on a weekend when deciding last minute you want to bring home a cold frosty one. There is no waiting for the beer to chill.

The availability of micro or craft brews is quite extensive at the Saint Charles Illinois Binny's Beverage Depot. I like to purchase local brews such as Goose Island or Founders. One of my favorite local beers is from the Two Brother's Brewing and unfortunately these beers seem to run out quickly at Binny's. It might be a good idea for their buyer or purchase agent to increase their order next time.

Binny's Beverage Depot - The Price

The price is usually always right at Binny's. I can usually find a similar if not better price of large volume macro brew purchases at Binny's Beverage Depot in comparison to Costco or Sam's. If I have large scale gatherings or barbecues, I can count on Binny's to keep my alcohol purchases quite reasonable with price. I cannot criticize nor complement the wine pricing as my purchases are rarely made in this part of the store.

BInny's also allows shoppers to sign up for a discount card or membership. This card is great to providing the member with frequent discounts on purchasing. The items will be flagged throughout the stores that are eligible for member pricing. Members will also receive frequent e-mails announcing seasonal specials and extreme sales.
