Bets known for his portrayal of the cute and lovable, Jim Halpert on the US version of The Office, John Krasinski is the subject of many girls' affections. But what you might not know about this young actor, makes him even more appealing.

Krasinski was born in Boston, the youngest of three brothers, in to a nurse and a doctor. The Boston Globe reported that he and his co-star, B.J. Novak from The Office, actually knew each other when they were younger before growing up to act along side each other. They attended high school together and even played on the same Little League Baseball team. In high school, Novak wrote a play that Krasinski acted in.

After graduating from Newton South High School, one of the top schools in Boston, he took a semester off to teach English in Costa Rica. Smart and charitable? Sounds like a dream. But he's even smarter than you think.

Upon returning from Costa Rica, he went to Brown University where he originally intended to study to be an English teacher but decided to pursue acting instead. In 2001, he graduated as a playwright with an B.A. in English Literature. After graduating from Brown, he attended the National Theater Institute in Connecticut, but only stayed for one semester.

After completing his studies, he moved to New York to try to start up his acting career. He did a lot of commercials and small guest roles on TV shows. While in New York, he became a script intern on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He recounted his start when he appeared as a guest on the show. He got a few small roles in films like Kinsey, Jarhead and State and Main, before landing his big role on The Office, which debuted in March 2005 as a mid-season replacement.

Since then his career has taken off, and he has voiced Lancelot on Shrek the Third, starred in License to Wed, and can be currently seen on the big screen with George Clooney in the movie, Leatherheads. He is set to expand his creative reach by writing and directing the big screen adaptatin of Brief Interviews with Hideous Men.

There are still big things in his future. At just 28, he has accomplished a great deal already and shows no signs of slowing down. The Office has quickly become one of NBC's biggest hits and Krasinski has shared the honor with his cast mates of many award nominations and an Emmy win for Outstanding Comedy Series. He definitely has nowhere to go but up.
