Biography of Lord Sephiroth - Final Fantasy Villian

Long before the start of the sequence of events in Final Fantasy VII, the Shin-Ra organization had been studying the power of a people known as the Ancients (the Cetra). They had been doing many vast experiments to try to cultivate the power of the ancients. Mistakenly, the took Jenova, a horrible space alien bent on devouring worlds, as one of the last of the Cetra. This was their biggest fatal mistake.

They injected an unborn child of a research known as Lucrecia with the cells of Jenova, which resulted in the creation of Sephiroth. It became quickly clear that Sephiroth would be no normal child, as he possessed amazing strength and prowess. His mother, Lucrecia, fearing what she had done had tried to kill herself, but the Jenova cells in her body would not allow that, so she sealed herself in a cave of Materia.

Sephiroth grew powerful, and under the direction of Professor Hojo & Gast (of whom Sephiroth thought Gast was the superior) he helps conquer the islands of Wutai. Later on, however, he learns of his creation, and mistakes Jenova to be his true birth mother. Considering he got all his information from the incorrect theories of Gast & Hojo, Sephiroth also mistook himself to be an ancient, and thus decided he should destroy the planet, inherit it's power, and become a god.

These later events occur in the basement of the Shin-Ra mansion, causing Sephiroth to become enraged and seek to free his mother from the control of Shin-Ra researchers (namely, Hojo). He makes his way to the nearby mako reactor, defeating Zach along the way. In the process he is stabbed from behind by Cloud, and then falls into the lifestream.

Sephiroth later makes his way to the northern cave, after killing off the president of the shinra electric power corporation. There he attempts to summon meteor with the black materia he obtained, so that he could injure the planet. Such an injury would draw the planet's power to the northern cave, where Sephiroth would capture and absorb it himself. Cloud defeats him in the end, using the powerful omni-slash, and the battle does not continue until the later adventures in Advent Children.

In the real world, Sephiroth has amassed a dedicated following, even beating out Ganondorf for the GameFAQS best-villian contest. You may also find Jenova's witnesses wondering about local anime conventions, and more. Sephiroth is the iconic white-haired villian that others strive to live up to.
