Bi-Partisian Healthcare Summit: Did Anyone Get Anything from It?

Christopher Feagans
It was just a normal day for everyone else that was outside of Washington, D.C. While we were at work, school, possibly eating, Republicans and Democrats were meeting to discuss the issue of Universal Health care in a so called Summit that would ensure that both parties would talk about the ways to try and help the failing health system in this country. Needless to say, the same old political bickering ensued as well as jabs at each others stance on the health care system. Was this all just a PR stunt? I believe so.

The Democrats will not budge on this issue. I am beginning to wonder if they even thought of an alternative in the first place, because government control to them is like a dog playing with a ball. They Love it. Obama's approval ratings have been dismal since he has introduced this healthcare plan because people know that government run anything is trouble. It's not rocket science! So this was just a PR stunt created by the Obama administration, in my opinion, because if he shows that he is 'open' to hear what the Republicans have to say, then that must mean he is serious about it.

But when you think about it, it seems strange that if this whole Healthcare Summit was to discuss ideas, but when the Republicans brought up ideas, every single thing said was dropped and trashed by Obama himself, that it must mean that he is not willing to budge on his current plan that the government must control healthcare. So with this, honestly, what is the point of this Summit in the first place. Bingo, a PR stunt to try and help his approval ratings. Elections this year are going to be a key for the Democrats to continue to push this healthcare plan.

But as it looks now, some of those seats they thought they might have had a few months ago may now be in jeopardy because of this Healthcare plan. When thinking about it, it makes sense that the Democrats, Obama himself, called for this to occur to try to encourage people to still keep those key Democrats in office so that this healthcare bill can be passed. Little does Obama know, he can't have but so much power. Read the Constitution of the United States.
