Bipolar Took My Son

Zenovia B.
He is so handsome, brown eyed with a brilliant mind.
He can also be mischievous, yet also very kind.

No longer a boy, but not quite yet a man.
He talked about his future, he talked about his plans.

Without any announcement, this evil disease came.
It took over his mind and made him insane.

He had fell in love, also had become a dad.
With so much responsibility, inside he was sad.

So much pressure, his mind decided to escape.
It left the family so vulnerable, my family felt raped.

The feeling of self loathing, also self pride.
Denied this was the child nine months I carried inside.

This disease put him on a high, he could do no wrong.
In his mind his thoughts were racing, singing over and over the same song.

I had to put my son away, there was nothing else I could do.
Bipolar had invaded his mind, my choices were very few.

My baby boy hated me because of the place he was at.
But that is where his mental illness, could truly get combat.

No one wants to talk about being mentally ill.
It can be controlled with education and also with pills.

When the disease returns, it snatches his mind body and soul.
There will never be a time now, when he will return to us completely whole.
