Birch River Grill Earns "Emerging Business of the Year" Award

Arlington Heights, Ill. (January 2009) - The Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce is awarding Birch River Grill - An American Kitchen (75 W. Algonquin Rd., Arlington Heights; 847-427-4242) with the 2008 "Emerging Business of the Year" award, to be given at the 62^nd Annual Installation and Recognition Dinner, from 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday, January 22 at the Sheraton Chicago Northwest (3400 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights). The chamber recognizes the unique spin Birch River Grill gives its rustic, contemporary American fare. Cocktails will be served at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner and awards ceremony, open to chamber members as well as the community. Tickets for the event are $75 and should be reserved by January 14.

At the event, Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce 2008 President Greg Geissenberger and 2009 President-Elect David Becker will speak, followed by the awards ceremony. Birch River Grill Executive Chef John Ayaleanos and Restaurant Manager Jeremy Donaker will accept the award. Executives from the Doubletree Hotel Chicago-Arlington Heights, adjacent to Birch River Grill, will also be present, including Doubletree Hotel Chicago-Arlington Heights General Manager Linda Smogor, Assistant General Manager Chuck Valenti and Director of Sales John Rohrbach. Leslie Colman, Senior Vice President of F&F Realty, Ltd., which owns and operates the hotel and restaurant.

"We are honored and delighted to accept this award from the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce," said Smogor. "Birch River Grill has a lot to offer the community, and it's wonderful to be recognized for our efforts at the restaurant."

Birch River Grill's gourmet American food has been previously recognized for its outstanding quality and innovation. In 2007 and 2008, the restaurant's signature Wild Game Chili, featuring bison, wild boar and andouille sausage tomato sauce, was awarded "People's Choice Best Chili" from the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce. This is the first time the restaurant has been nominated for the "Emerging Business of the Year" award. Their most recent honor will go on display at the restaurant with their other award banners.

Birch River Grill - An American Kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday; 7 a.m. to
