Here are the answers to the bird lover's quiz:

1. Birds do not have teeth. In place of teeth, birds have bills made of keratin, a fibrous scleroprotein. Birds also have tongues.

2. The largest birds are the ostriches, weighing between 200 and 350 pounds. Ostriches are typically between 7 and 9 feet tall.

3. The most common birds in the world are the chickens.

4. The Bald Eagle, representing strength, longevity and freedom, was selected in 1792 as the national emblem of the United States.

5. No, birds do not have sweat glands. Birds keep cool on hot days by panting.

6. Yes, birds can see the world in color. As a matter of fact, since bird's eyes have five types of cones, their color vision is superior to that of humans, who have only three types of cones. Some birds can even see ultraviolet colors.

7. Baretta's bird was a Cockatoo, specifically a Greater Sulpher-crested Cockatoo, and his name was Fred.

8. The lifespan of an African Grey is between 50 and 80 years, depending on the environment, activity level and other factors.

9. The fastest birds are the Peregrine Falcons, who can attain speeds of over 200 miles per hour when diving through the air.

10. Yes, birds of a feather flock together in the wild, but birds also socialize with species other than their own.

    Fun quiz, Sunshine! I got most of them right. I figured the sparrows would be the most common bird. Never thought about chickens!! LOL! :)

    1,4,6,7,8,9, and 10 I got right. Vultures are not the world's largest bird; neither are sparrows the world's most common; and none of them sweat; all of which I now know, thank you.

    I actually owned a peregrine falcon once- for about 3 days until he got better and flew away. I named him Gandolf- he would eat raw liver from my hand, and sat so gentle on my shoulder. I got about half the quiz right, btw
