Birdman's Five Star Stunna Will Disappoint the Hip-Hop Masses

Brian Williams is known as one of the founders of the popular Cash Money Record label. Along with his brother, Ronald Williams, Brian has created a musical empire. Besides running a label, Brian is also known as the rapper The Birdman, aka, Baby.

This is The Birdman's second solo album and his first in two years. In 2006, he released the popular Like Father, Like Son with label mate Lil Wayne. Now The Birdman is ready to release his second solo album, Five Star Stunna. Will The Birdman's latest album be worth the wait?

The first single off of Five Star Stunna is Pop Bottles featuring Lil Wayne and Jadakiss. The song is fairly catchy. The beat is repetitive but solid. Lil Wayne drops a solid verse as expected. The song shows the differences in rapping ability between Lil Wayne and The Birdman. Jadakiss is on the song as a sampled voice from his line from his song Put Your Hands Up.

On the second single 100 Million, The Birdman is joined by DJ Khaled, Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and producers Cool & Dre. The song is a stronger than average posse cut. The track features strong verses from most of the rappers involved on the track. The strong parts of the track are Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne's verses.

Make Way features Lil Wayne and Fat Joe. The song is one of the darker tracks on the album. The track definitely is not a standout track. Lil Wayne spits an almost incoherent verse and chorus. Fat Joe tries his best to make something of the track but even he cannot fix what is broken with it.

So Tired features Lil Wayne. The track finds Lil Wayne crooning during the chorus. The singing is definitely off key as expected and runs entirely too long. The song is just forgettable.

I Run This is one of the catchier tracks on the album. The song features Lil Wayne and seems as if it was a reject for Like Father, Like Son.

Grind teams Birdman with Lil Wayne and Brisco. The song is one of the better tracks on the album. The song features a catchier beat than most of the tracks on the album.

I'm A Stunna is one of the songs that is able to capture the magic of vintage Cash Money Records. The song features all the ostentatious nature of Cash Money along with a bouncy beat.

The Money (So Fresh) is another average rap track. The song is just nothing special. The chorus is boring and repetitive just like the beat.

If you are a fan of what the Birdman does music wise, you will be more than satisfied. However, if you are just a general fan of hip hop, this album will fall flat. Overall Five Star Stunna gets 7 out of 10 stars. If you are a fan of Baby also known as The Birdman, make sure you pick up Five Star Stunna when it is available.
