Birds Poisoned in South Dakota by the U.S. Government

U.S. Department of Agriculture Poisons Birds with DRC-1339

Bye Bye Blackbirds, what is it? A bird-control program that was started back in the 60s, but don't be surprised if you never heard of it. Why do you need to know about government programs used to poison annoying birds? You need to know whether or not Lindsey Lohan is still in rehab or jail and who Mr. Woods was bedding; not funny, but you get the point. The mainstream media doesn't over emphasize what really matters.

According to a flood of recent reports the U.S. Department of Agriculture came clean and took responsibility for the dead birds that appeared in South Dakota. However, the USDA is not admitting any connection to the mass bird deaths in Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Alabama or anywhere else.

Do you really believe the government only killed birds in South Dakota? Or are you starting to think that maybe the public is being duped? With all the so-called mysterious mass bird deaths in less than a month, and the theories that followed the guess work by officials, it is no wonder it all became a joking matter. Aflockalypse, a not so funny nick-name.

The USDAs program should be taken serious. In 2009, residents of central NJ experienced similar bird deaths, to quote from an article titled "Bird culling fallout alarms central NJ community" by AP News author Victor Epstein, 27 January 2009, Carol Bannerman, a USDA spokeswoman said, "...a bird-specific pesticide called DRC-1339 was used to kill the starlings." She added, "We're very sorry that it played out the way that it did...the USDA will try to do a better job of notifying the public in the future." Associated Press writer Beth DeFalco in Trenton contributed to the report.

Yet, according to a report in the Huffington Post 20 January 2011 regarding hundreds of birds killed by the U.S. Government in South Dakota by bait laced with the poison DRC-1339 "...many residents of South Dakota were puzzled..." What happened to notifying the public in the future?

Where is the credibility, what reason does the public have to simply believe what they are told? Many people became concerned when the clean up crews showed up wearing hazmat suits to pick up the dead birds in Beebe, Arkansas...hazmat suits!

DRC-1339, what is it and is it really safe for humans and other animals as we are told, the general public needs to be more active in learning what is going on in the world they live in. Do you agree?
