Birds and the Trees

What happened to the grass and trees that used to be ?
Why do the rich want to show off with concrete ?
Concrete jungles for you and me
With no tree limbs to stand on for the birds to sing .

Will it ever end , the ego's goal ?
Impress with what the poor can't buy .
Replace the grass with concrete . Who cares about trees ?
A statue is a place birds can perch . What about plant life ?
Animals , they'll have to go . Who cares if they disappear ?
Who cares if the birds sing ?
Their chirps can be heard on CD's .
Plastic birds and fake trees
Can be displayed for you to admire .

Who is impressed with the money wrongly spent ?
The grass and trees used to provide us oxygen .
Now we have concrete lawns .
We are not impressed at all .
The concrete salesmen might get rich . Sell em concrete .
Let's expand . Forget about grass and the like .
Let em buy oxygen from a tank .

There is a statue , where there used to be a tree.
I can hear the roar of engines , but can't hear the birds sing .
The birds and the trees , that used to be ,
Have been declared obsolete .
No animals or birds are here to explain ,
They had to seek another land ,
To find a place to play .
