Birdwatching on the Nature Coast - The Red Shouldered Hawk

Today, a red shoulder hawk came and perched on the oak right in the backyard just as this article was being written. Talk about luck! Check out the cool shots!

Red shouldered hawks like forested areas with water close by, and are very loud, one of the most vocal Florida birds.
"The Great Horned Owl often takes nestling Red-shouldered Hawks, but the hawk occasionally turns the tables. While a Red-shouldered Hawk was observed chasing a Great Horned Owl, its mate took a young owl out of its nest and ate it."-allaboutbirds.com

There is a pair of red-shoulders resident in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. They are definitely vocal.

A migrating golden eagle once landed on my balcony. I didn't want to move, even to dig out a camera.
