"Birmingham 2016" Takes Advantage of "New Urbanism" Concept
Neighborhood: Birmingham
Birmingham, MI 48009
United States of America
For those who are not aware, or who may have forgotten, "Birmingham 2016" was implemented within the City of Birmingham. This plan makes use of the "New Urbanism" concept of design and development.

"New Urbanism" is meant to make it easier for residents of a city such as Birmingham to get around by making it possible to walk to various businesses. This not only helps the environment, but the act of getting out helps lend a vibrant air to the city itself.

"New Urbanism" does not mean that tradition is tossed aside in favor of new things. Rather, "new urbanism" takes the original neighborhood feel and incorporates it into new developments, or the improvement of that which already exists.
