I have lived in and around Birmingham, AL for the past 11 years and being a mom myself I always want to find things to do and places to go to that do not cost me a dime. Let's be honest. Everyone likes freebies and doing things with your family or just for yourself that cost you nothing yet it brings you joy and relaxation. So, here are a few things you could do for FREE.

1. Visit the Botanical Gardens . Home of so many species of plants and flowers it is bound to make you feel in awe of the beauty you will encounter. They have a website you can check out at www. http://www.bbgardens.org

2. Take time to see the Washington Museum. If you are into histroy and care to find out about the past of the USA this is one place to get more educated. Check out their website at http://www.washingtonmuseum.com

3. Visit the Comer Museum and Arts Center in Sylacauga, AL. Look at different exhibits and take paint classes. Here is their website at http://comermuseum.freeservers.com

4. Take a tour of the Golden Flake Factory. You do not need an appointment but just a large group to actually get the tour. Check out their website at http://www.goldenflake.com. The only requirement is for you to have children between ages 5-18 with you.

5. Visit Hoover Public Library and enjoy your time at the Plaza café or just sit down and read a book, a magazine, or find useful information for free. That library is amazing! They also have one a month, on Mondays, free movie night and sometimes down in the theatre they feature different bands, hold concerts, etc. Check it out at www.hooverlibrary.org

6. Go to Jefferson State Community College Park. There are swings, slides, and places one can grill out. Kids love it and it is good for one's health.
