The program involves educating the communities' parents of the importance of working together to ensure the safety and prevention of underage drinking. The coalition hopes to reduce the amount of underage drinking and drug abuse. In 2008, over 40 percent of the over 10 million teenage underage drinkers nationwide were able to obtain alcohol through an adult's assistance.
Last year, over 8,000 post cards were mailed out to the parents of Bloomfield and Birmingham students with a quiz and a reminder to "Be a Parent, Not a Pal." For more information regarding this and other programs of the Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition visit : http://bbcoalition.org
