Now that Ferndale City Manager Robert Bruner has accepted the position as Birmingham's city manager, many residents are wondering what the next steps are and if those steps will have any affect on them. As a former political advisor, I can explain what the next steps are.
The Ferndale City Council has given Robert Bruner 60-day notice. During that time, he will be meeting with the Birmingham City Commission and interim City Manager Joe Valentine. This will work as a transition period for the position. Once the 60 days are up, chances are good that Bruner will take a few days off to recoup. He will then be ready to take over his new position without Birmingham residents even noticing a change.
