Birmingham Planning Board approves bistros for Rail District
Neighborhood: Birmingham
Birmingham, MI 48009

A few months after Armstrong White, a global design firm, moved their headquarters to the Rail District in Birmingham, the Birmingham Planning Board unanimously approved a measure to allow bistros to open up in the Rail District. The growing Rail District is enclosed by Eton Street, Lincoln Street and the railroad tracks.

Under Birmingham's ordinances and construction requirements, a bistro must have outdoor seating and can only seat up to 65 people. Also, if the bistro has a bar, it can be no longer than 10 feet. In other words, these bistros are not going to create a lot of noise or late-night disturbances for those living near the Rail District. The city commission will make the final decision on the bistros, hopefully by the end of October.
