Birmingham's Art Fair moves from park to street

Birmingham's art fair, formerly known as Art in the Park, was held annually in Shain Park, located on Merrill Street in downtown Birmingham. This year, however, it will be called Common Ground's Birmingham Street Art Fair as it will be held on South Old Woodward, through the heart of downtown. The 2010 version of the art fair will feature over 160 artists from all over.

Common Ground is presenting the event and an auction will help raise money for the organization. The group helps individuals and families who find themselves in need and has been doing so for 40 years. Today, they help over 40,000 people per year; 91 percent of each dollar they receive goes to help those in need.

The Common Ground's Birmingham Street Art Fair will take place Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The fair will take up South Old Woodard between Maple Road and Daines Street.
