Birthday Blessings Changes Name and Expands Focus

Birthday Blessings Will Now Be Bright Blessings

A non-profit that began in Charlotte, North Carolina as a local charity is now a national organization. The founders of the non-profit have outgrown their space and can do more as a national group.

Birthday Blessings, as the non-profit was originally called, had birthday parties on a monthly basis at the Salvation Army Center of Hope in Charlotte. The group will now be known as Bright Blessings. The name change will allow the non-profit to include new programs as well as the original.

Amy Cervantes, one of the founders of Birthday Blessings, said she and her husband, John Cervantes, started the non-profit to help their children have a better understanding of giving. Now the non-profit is able to be a national organization.

The official change from Birthday Blessings to Bright Blessings was on January 10, 2011. The response to this expansion may be a bit overwhelming. To learn more about the efforts of this group, follow the link to their site below this article.

Birthday Blessings formed in 2005. To date the organization has held birthday celebrations for approximately 1,500 homeless children.

According to the website, with the new name, Bright Blessings, the organization is accepting donations that will help with gifts for new babies born to homeless mothers. Bless-A-Baby is part of Bright Blessings, and gives a Blessing Basket to new moms. The baskets contain health and comfort items that others may take for granted.

Anyone wanting to offer time as a volunteer may find information needed on the Bright Blessings website. Those wanting to make donations will also find details about donating on the site.
