Birthday Party Favors - Fun, Practical and Original

Mick
Birthday party favors are society's way of ensuring that birthday boys and girls don't miss out on the fun of giving...and that party-goers don't miss out on the fun of receiving. Depending on the party, these birthday party favors can vary wildly in terms of cost and content, but almost every birthday party gives out favors. Many hosts use their party's theme as a means of determining what favors should be given, but many party-goers appreciate more personalized birthday party favors. Personalized birthday party favors can be altered to ensure your theme is followed, if that is important to you. One thing is sure, though: nobody wants to spend a lot of money on birthday party favors.

Personalized and handmade cards from the birthday boy or girl can be done inexpensively and are greatly appreciated from younger children. As a birthday party favor from a 1 to 3 year old to the variety of relatives and close friends, a personalized card (whether with photo or hand-drawn creations) from the birthday boy or girl cannot be beat. Older children can make their own creations as birthday party favors: paintings, sculptures, and origami. Whatever your child's skill, this can be modified into a wonderful birthday party favor.

Crafts created at the party provide birthday party favors that provide a way to remember the afternoon. Painting small trinkets as a group gives the children something to do while at the party and gives them something to bring home as a birthday party favor. Most craft stores sell small wooden or plaster figures for cheap, and non-toxic paints are readily found almost anywhere. For younger children, old t-shirts to use as smocks make sure that you're not sending a ruined shirt home as an additional birthday party favor. You can either buy some from Goodwill or dig some out of your own closet.

If your party has a theme, a picture frame with your child's photo (or, even better, a photo of your child with the party-goer, either at the party or at another time) can be altered to fit your theme and makes a nice birthday party favor. This would also work for the crafts. A pirate themed party could include a craft session of making "pirate clothes" in the form of eye patches and bandanas for the kids to take home as a birthday party favor.

A trip through a crafts store provides more useful and personalized ideas for birthday party favors than a trip through a party store. The cost can be altered to whatever your budget may be, and you're not stuck with the same birthday party favors everyone else is giving out.
