Birthdays and 9 Months Before Then

Let' Talk About when You Were Conceived. Haven't Thought About that One Huh?

Today two of my college classmates/course mates are celebrating their birthdays (yes, at the same time). This got me thinking about "when were we conceived". I know it's icky to even think about our parents getting it on but that's not what I'm focusing on.

Since my friends, Zel and Pat, have their birthdays on September. That means, through inference and very complicated mathematical induction such as subtracting nine months from the one's birthday, that they were conceived sometime in December. So December, huh? A very cold month, the kind of time when one would be seeking for heat, preferably body heat, wouldn't you agree? No wonder...

That led to more thinking: so which month has the most birthday celebrations? It's actually September and October in my case. That opposed my hypothesis. I hypothesized (like I did during my high school science labs) that there would be the most birthday celebrations on November. That would be because nine months from then is February - month of the hearts. The only person celebrating her birthday on November in my family is my grandmother. Probably formal research data would humor us regarding this issue.

Could it be that the instinct to reach out for a warm body is greater than the hype that capitalists make over holidays? Or maybe it's not only because of the cold weather but also because of the non-working holidays in December... You know, why go out in the cold and dive into the shopping frenzy when you can just stay at home. But what do you do when you're on a holiday from work? I guess you... play

However, that should not stop us from inferring further, so let's come up with a good reason why I don't know many people who are celebrating their birthdays on November. Probably because I don't know too many people? That could be a good reason, or maybe sexy-time in February is so commercialized that people plan for it. And with planning comes the choice to actually use contraceptives. That seems sound, don't you agree? Well I have another theory. Maybe it's because couple go out for dates during that time, which is why they are less likely to pro-create. Well if that's the case then I think that's just sad. On the very day that lovers are supposed to celebrate their love for each other, they are convinced by the capitalists to celebrate it by spending for each other. Why is that? When the best way to celebrate your love is to share it, and the best way to share a couple's love is to make love.

Next Valentine's Day, I'll convince my parents to stay home. Maybe they'd bicker at each other less for the rest of next year.
