America Ferrera is the newest addition to the list of stars who have some of their body parts insured. Famous for her role as Betty Suarez in the top-rating ABC sitcom "Ugly Betty", Ferrera has had her smile insured for 10 million dollars by Lloyds of London.

Ferrera is working with Aquafresh White Trays for a charity campaign for free dental services for jobless women. The policy for the insurance was taken out by Aquafresh White Trays, a teeth whitening product manufacturer.

Before Ferrera, many other celebrities have insured their body parts for various reasons, primary of which is that this body part has taken them to stardom.

In the 1920's Ben Turpin, a silent movie star famous for his crossed eyes took out a $20,000 policy against uncrossing his eyes. Singer Jimmy Durante followed by taking out a $50,000 policy on his famous large nose. Bette Davis had a $28,000 policy against weight gain.

Many singers insured their voices for millions as well. Marlene Dietrich insured her for $1 million, while Bruce Springsteen has his husky voice somewhere in the $6 million range. Rod Stewart was said to have insured his pipes as well.

Famous actress Betty Gable was one of the first celebrities to insure her famous legs. She did hers in 1940 and the famous actress, singer and dancer insured her legs for a million. Also taking out a $1 million policy each to insure their gams are actresses Jamie Lee Curtis, Angie Dickinson, Angie Everhart, Marlene Dietrich, and Brooke Shields. Entertainment Tonight host Mary Hart also had her legs covered by insurance for a million bucks. Not to be taken out of the list is famous singer Tina Turner, known for her many performance wearing short skirts to show off her very shapely legs. The winner of a contest called Most Valuable Legs Domitila Hunnicutt had her legs insured for $2 million for one year by the sponsor of that contest, Jergens.

Men are not to be outdone in this department. Famous English soccer player David Beckham definitely bends it on the grass with his legs insured for an eye-popping amount of $70 million. Step dancer Michael Flatley took out a policy for $40 million for his graceful legs. Fred Astaire lived way earlier than these people, that's why the legendary dancer, singer and actor had a policy for a measly $75,000 per leg.

What do the flamboyant pianist Liberace, fellow pianist Frenchman Richard Clayderman and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards have in common? All insured their hands. The winner of the first World Yo-Yo Contest in 1934, Harvey Lowe also insured his hands by the Cheerie Yo-Yo Company for $150,000.

San Francisco topless dancer Carol Doda insured her breasts for $1.5 million at Lloyd's of London also. Country singer and actress Dolly Parton insured her assets -- her 42-inch breasts -- for $600,000.

We may find it bizarre, but some people really want to take care some special parts of their bodies. A British male stripper named Frankie Jakeman insured his penis for $1.6 million, while fellow Brit food critic Egon Ronay insured his taste buds for $400,000. Ken Drodd, a comic actor insured his teeth for 4 million British pounds while Merv Hughes, a cricket player took out a 200,000 pounds policy on his mustache. We may consider their decision rather bizarre, but still, these body parts have perhaps allowed them to make a name for themselves and gave them the stardom that they have enjoyed.
