BJ's Restraunt Elk Grove, CA

Book Flame
Have you ever been to the Bj's Restraunt Brewhouse in Elk Grove , Ca? If you haven't then keep it that way. I have been to this restaurant several times and the best way to describe it is if you are planning on going to catch a few drinks and watch sports in the bar area then be my guest but if you are in the mood for dinner then run the other way.

I'll share a few experiences some good and some bad. I've never had any problems on their bar side. It's the restaurant where I have always experienced bad service, order mix ups and over charges. My first experience came when me, my two year old daughters and two of my friends decided to check the place out for lunch. We ordered a large pizza and we did not want any sausages on the pizza, we even saw the server write it down. When we get the order sure enough there are sausages galore. The manager comes out and apologizes for their mistake and offers to make another pizza. At first we were upset because we had kids with us and the coloring book offered to them can only keep the entertained for so long. Once the pizza arrives the second time around we notice that they did get the part where we didn't want any sausages on the pizza correct but the problem was they also took off all of the other meat that came on the pizza and we basically ended up having a vegetarian pizza. At this point we wanted our money back but the restaurant refused to do so.

Another bad experience I had was when another one of my close friends threw a birthday dinner at the restaurant for roughly around 10 people. Reservations were made for 7:30p.m. on which everyone arrived on time, except for the workers at BJ's. The party did not get seated until 8:00p.m. because the table was not ready. Last time I checked the point of making a reservation was for the table to be ready on time. To continue on to the rest of the night, after everyone was seated the server came and took our drink orders which we did not receive for about 15 minutes. After that she did not come back until 9:00p.m. to take our orders and we didn't receive the food until 9:30p.m. we were also overcharged for dessert. If this was the weekend I would understand the delay but seeing how it was a Tuesday night and the restaurant was half empty it really made no sense. At the end of the evening some of the guests from the party complained to the manager and his response was the server was new. Now why would you assign someone who is brand new and still learning the ropes to the way things work to a party of 10, very smart BJ's!

The only time I really had a good experience was when I went out for drinks with a date. We went and sat down at the bar which is self seat. We got our drinks in less them 5 minutes and also received the appetizers within 15 minutes. Almost felt as if I was at another restaurant. The only thing I recommend to eat is the pizza, even though they made mistakes with our order the pizza still tasted very good. I wish I could say that for the other dishes they have but their food is pretty dry and they make it very obvious that they are a chain restaurant. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone except for the bar and sports fans.

I haven't been to the one in Elk Grove, but My family of 5 went to the Modesto location to find out just the opposite. We were greeted and sat right down on a Saturday afternoon. We waited a bit for our waiter who came over and was very apologetic and took our drink and lunch order. Even before we get our drinks the manager comes over and offers us free dessert because according to him, the waiter took too long to get to us..,he says was over 7 minutes.
