Black

Lloyd Pearson IV
Black was the first color
The Bible even tells you this
Black is the only color that's independent
The rest need light to exist.
In the beginning there was only black
There was no day, only night
None of the other colors were born
Until after the words "Let there be light!"
Don't believe me? Turn out the light.
Now tell me what other colors can you detect?
If you see any other color, that means there is still light in the room
Looks like you better go check!
Just observe how quickly
The other colors get consumed
From the moment the light leaves
All the other colors are doomed
So don't ever allow anyone
To despise your complexion
Black is powerful and dominant
It's the color of perfection

My gift is bigger than writing. Writing is just one of the ways I can express my gift.I've only been writing for less than a year, but I have always been a free thinker. I website for networking with poets....  View profile

Beautifully done indeed! ...you know something funny? Black and white are not colors they say; that always blew my mind.

Pretty cool! It's so refreshing to read about loving oneself, instead of hating.

I'm still thinking...an interesting side effect from your writing;)I would appreciate your opinion on my poem "Homeless"...much more interested in your thought than a page view.

Black is a beautiful and elegant; but omigod, I think this poem just explained why some people are so bigoted towards people who's pigmentation best protects from the sun's ultraviolet rays. Jealousy.
