Black Bear Academy Seeks Classroom Volunteers

I accompanied my niece to The Black Bear Academy when she signed up to be a lunch room volunteer. The only reason why I tagged along was because her husband took her car in to have the oil changed. I found the atmosphere to be fun, and the teachers seemed very dynamic and attentive to the students. In addition, to her stint as a lunchroom volunteer, she also visited the kids and brought them a few snacks for them to enjoy in class.

The Black Bear Academy, located at 1801 West West Byron in Chicago, could use volunteers in a variety of different capacities to assist in their preschool and in school related activities. Classroom volunteers are always welcome to visit the students, and to bring in a healthy snack. If you decide to be a snack helper, you should know that The Black Bear Academy is a "peanut-free" school. You are asked to refrain from bringing in any snacks that contain peanuts or peanut products in them. My niece said it's better to bring in fresh fruit, so that way you're sure they don't contain any peanut remnants. I'm not sure if any of the kids have peanut allergies, but I do know from my experience as a nurse that even the slightest exposure to peanuts or their by-products can be dangerous.

Other Black Bear Academy volunteer opportunities include lunch room volunteers, volunteering for the book fair, being a room parent and soccer volunteers. In addition, field trip helpers and those interested in fund raising might also be interested in volunteering.
