Black Boots for Every Shape and Style

Erin Duff
I tend to be a sandal girl from the time the snow melts until the time my toes begin to freeze, and then I find myself wearing boots (typically with a high heel) from that point on. I have several different pairs, and while they only vary a bit, each boot is different in both fit and feel. I decided to compile a list of black boots that were mainly appropriate for the office or a night out.

I recommend Zappos as the best place to find a wide variety of shoes. They have excellent customer service, plus you will likely receive free shipping with your order. If your shoes don't fit or aren't to your liking, you can return them and Zappos will pay shipping. It's a lot better than waiting in line or trying to find your size in a shoe store!I have purchased many different pairs of Steve Madden shoes, and these boots are among my favorites to wear. I have this style, and my only complaint is the slight lack of arch support if I wear them for long periods of time. Keep in mind, however, that these boots are not made to wear to work at a job where you are on your feet most of the day, and that is the only time I had problems. The Steve Madden brand is a quality product, and I continue to choose them first when I want a new pair of boots. This pair has a 4 ½ inch heel, which is higher than I would usually like, but I am still able to wear these comfortably. These boots are a pull-on style and come to the knee. This pair is currently on sale for $183.96, and is available in sizes 5.5-10. The next boot I found that I liked was the Calvin Klein Cristina boot. It is a knee-length boot with a four-inch platform style heel. It might be difficult to wear if you had to walk a long distance, but the look and quality of the boot makes it worth wearing, at least for a few hours. They are made of suede or tumbled leather. The boots currently cost $199.00, and are available in sizes 5.5-10.

These Kenneth Cole boots have a 3 ¼ inch heel and come in a platform-style, which gives you additional support during a long day. They have a rounded toe and zip up to the knee. The boots are made from synthetic stretch leather, which makes for a comfortable pair of boots, especially as they stretch to fit your leg. They cost $109.00, and are available in sizes 6-11.

If you're looking for a knee-length boot but prefer a shorter heel, consider the Clarks Meaden or Naturalizer Bayfield styles. Both pairs have a heel that is 2 ½ inches tall, and both brands are well known for comfortable arch support. These boots are perfect for the office, as they provide comfort for your feet and legs throughout the day. They are similar in style, and preference is key when deciding between the two. The prices are even similar, as the Clarks cost $95.00, and the Naturalizers cost $94.00. Either boot would be a great addition to your collection. If you prefer no heel at all but would still like a knee-length black boot, the LAUREN Ralph Lauren Stara style is one of the best options available. It only has a 1 ¼ inch heel, and is more of a riding-boot style of boot. These would still work well for the office, and could easily be worn if you are often on your feet. Zappos currently features this boot for $158.40. While searching for boots to fit my tastes, I was able to find hundreds of available styles, sizes, and price ranges. The boots I have listed are the ones that I would or have purchased in the past, and I highly recommend each. Keep in mind that your boots will only last as long as you are willing to care for them, and that you can better keep their shape and shine by referring to the guide available here. Happy shopping!
