Black and Decker's Scum Buster: Cordless Power Scrubber

Genie Walker
When I saw the ad for a powerless cordless scrubber for the bathroom by Black & Decker I got real excited, because I have a kitchen scrubber that makes my life easier and I wanted the same help in the bathroom. Actually, I wanted more help in the bathroom. For some reason, it's easier to keep a kitchen clean than a bathroom - at least at my house. I trust Black & Decker's products to work so I bought it from Amazon.com sight unseen for $39.99. I must not have read the description very well, because the scrubber was way bigger than I was expecting. I was a little worried that it might be too heavy for me to hold on to for very long, but it turned out to be lightweight and easy to handle.

Before you can use the Black and Decker scum buster you need to charge it overnight. I was anxious to get started so I tried plugging in the charger and using it while it was charging. It didn't work. Apparently, when they say it's cordless they mean it. The scrubber comes with a sprayer that you can fill with any cleanser that is what Black & Decker calls "water-like." The next day, after it was charged; I loaded up the Scum Buster with cleanser and got started. It works wonderfully. The Scum Buster comes with two different power settings; most of my cleaning was done on the lowest setting.

It comes in a handy carrying case made of a medium weight plastic with a charger and eight attachments: scrubber, 3" bristle brush, disc attachment, flexible accessory attachment, mild scrubber, coarse scrubber, heavy pad scrubber, radial brush, narrow brush, and shampoo brush. The mild pad scrubber is white and is used for cleaning ceramic tile walls, floors and outdoor furniture. I used the 3 inch bristle brush to clean the countertop around the sink; it also can be used for cleaning ceramic tiles walls, floors, and hard plastic surfaces. The coarse pad scrubber is light blue and is used to clean bathtubs, sinks and ceramic tiles. The heavy pad scrubber is green and is used to clean large surfaces such as grill grates. The disc attachment is to be used with the scrub and sponge pads. Since it is so narrow I used the radial brush to clean around the faucets on both the sink and the tub; it is used to clean grout lines and places where you need a brush for narrow spaces. The narrow brush is used for those hard to reach places such as shower corners. If you need extra help getting into those areas there is a flexible attachment that goes on first, then put the brush or scrubber you need on next. The shampoo brush is used for cleaning carpets; I don't have carpets so I'm going to need to find other uses for it. I nearly forgot to mention the cleaning stick - it is used to unclog the dispensing system.

The Scum Buster is easy to use: the attachments are easy to take on and off and it is extremely easy to fill the handle up with cleanser (basically you twist off the handle, fill it up to the line, then twist it back on). The on/off button is on the same line as the two settings. The sprayer is a button just below the on/off button. All are in easy reach of your thumb.

I highly recommend Black & Decker's Scum Buster. I'm so happy with it, my bathroom is gleaming. The bathroom would look perfect if I could only find a machine that will make me put things where they belong.

I went back to the old fashion hands and knees and elbow greeze. It require just one gadget.. me! LOL! Yes..
