Black Eyed Peas Give Wal-Mart a Black Eye

Mr. Chip's
I don't think this is the vision that Sam Walton had in mind for his behemoth known as Wal-Mart. That one day a parent would lay their child down for a nap. Put in a CD that was a Christmas gift from the grandparents only to hear the other parent complain that a so-called "Kid's Favorite " music CD had profane language. What is this world coming to? Now should Wal-Mart be at fault or should the popular music group "The Black Eyed Peas" be at fault. Or is it the fault of the parents for not pre-screening the music CD for bad language and so on. Even though the front of the CD had children surrounded with balloons. And you'd expect to envision and hear kids singing the songs. Not edited versions of songs by the Black Eyed Peas,Bubba Sparxxx or The Pussycat Dolls. In fact the parents in the article I read. Still complained that the Cd's were even edited but were still inappropriate because the way they referred to women and things. This writer believes they may have been meaning body parts or the latest slang for something.

Call me a "fuddy duddy" or a worry wart. But this thing worries me. And not just Walmart. I worked at for a time one the biggest US Army basic training posts in North America. And in my position I heard some really foul humor from one of the comics. That would regularly appear on the television in military advertisements for some of Dunham's comedy routines. Examples of what I call really low class humour and especially when you have children listening to this in an atmosphere such as a military installation. Some of Dunhams characters are Jose Jalapeno on a stick,Bubba J and so many others. Go to his website. He even defends some of his poor humor. So what does this have to do with Wal-Mart. Let me give you my third example. And what I write about alot on the AC website. That is my reviews on movies for the younger crowd. The movies and shows that you don't have to worry about covering your kids eyes or ears. And just about anyone could see or hear them. Like a movie called "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes" or "Mary Poppins" and of course all those movies we saw every Sunday on the "Real Walt Disney Wonderful World of Disney." Some of my friends and colleagues tell me that cinema and television is more sophisticated. The things you see today are viewed at two different levels one for the adults who will get bored with watching cartoons so the producers or creators interlace (like in Sponge Bob Square Pants themes to movies or snippets of war footage and so on) real life themes in kids cartoons. This just goes beyond me. I can't imagine watching Elmer Fudd chasing Wile E Coyote and then having some kind of NRA (National Rifle Association) message in the cartoon. But they tell me that is what's happening. And that's how you get a big Faux Pas from a big department like Walmart. Back in the good old days a kids record would have been for kids. A record or CD for college types or adults would have been for them. It is just so ridiculous how we need so many complex and complicated things to appeal to children and adults at the same time. It's like when when I lived in Great Britain and in Germany. The books for men some not all were within reach and view of kids. When I came back to the states. Those books were covered or placed high and away from me. When I grew up and became an adult. Then I could choose to see or buy those books. But in todays society. There just seems to be a lazy attitude of my kids are going to get to see and do what they want anyway. And that's how your going to get a Kid's music CD with profanity or just bad and inappropriate language or subject in it. Lest we forget that famous maxim 'evil flourishes when good people do nothing.'

Jeff Dunham unbelievably has won numerous awards for his recent raunchy and tasteless brand of comedy.Walmart also carries Dunham's comedy CD's and DVD's as do many military installations worldwide.
