Black Flag Flying Insect Killer Review

Annie Jean Brewer
Black Flag Flying Insect Killer comes in a 15-ounce aerosol can with claims to kill flying insects on contact and continued killing action for up to 8 hours. The packaging is pretty standard, with the exception of a twist-lock cap and available in only one size that I could see. It is rated for indoor or outdoor use, and has the words "Kills Mosquitoes" emblazoned on the top of the can. The can states that the insects it kills are:

Mosquitoes
Gnats
Small Flying Moths
Flies
Houseflies
Cluster Flies
Face Flies
Vinegar Flies
Fruit Flies
"And other flying insects"

I purchased a can because it was less expensive than my regular brand of flying insect killer.

When I got home, I sprayed it around my home to kill the flies that wandered inside.

They lived.

I thought I had applied it wrong. I sprayed it directly at the flies....

They just flew away.

I was astounded. I hit several with a direct, heavy spray and they showed no signs of distress whatsoever. If they were on the table, they crawled or flew away. If they were flying, they kept on going!

I expected to kill a few, but in the few days that I used this can my fly population actually increased. I resorted to a fly swatter to start killing them off!

I have used Black Flag products in the past with no complaints whatsoever, but this can of Flying Insect Killer was a complete waste of money. I used the entire can in a record amount of time and saw no results whatsoever. It was if I were spraying really stinky water on these insects!

I have used several different brands of flying insect killers over the years; this is the first time I have actually had a can do absolutely nothing in regards to killing insects. I even checked around to see if perhaps they were flying off in other areas and dying-but I found no insect corpses!

Perhaps this was just a bad can of insect killer. Perhaps the flies in my home are immune to the Tetramethrin used in this product. Whatever the reason, I have to rate this product 0 out of 5 stars for effectiveness.

There is a money back guarantee on this can: I am going to contact the manufacturer and request this guarantee be fulfilled. I dislike doing this-if I had seen evidence of a single dead insect while using this product I wouldn't go this route but there was none. Not a fly, not a spider-not anything other than an increased fly population!

I don't live in a large home: 720 square foot is what I have. Plenty of space for this can to kill some serious insects, yet not a single dead bug did I find!

Today I went out and purchased my normal brand of flying insect killer. All my flies are dead now.

Thanks for nothing, Black Flag!

Maybe you were suppose to hit them with the can !

Please spread the word. Black Flag has not even responded to my emails about this product! I saved the can so they could test to see if the product was faulty, but I'm not going to keep it forever!

Good to know about this. I once found some mosquito repellent that seem to keep the mosquitoes alive longer, too.

I was ticked. The worst part? I emailed Black Flag about their product--they have YET to email me back with so much as an apology! That really ticks me off!

I am not a big fan of insecticides, but this just adds insult to injury. The stuff in the can certainly isn't _good_ for you, but this is just the limit. I'm passing this one on to friends.

Thanks, my use of insectisides has been limited to fleas :)

I figured it would kill at least ONE bug when sprayed directly on it, but they just kept going! I swear I think they were laughing at me until I pulled out the swatter!

Black Flag gets the black flag!
