Black Friday Sales in Mt. Juliet (Near Nashville)

Donna Kay
This is going to be the easiest shopping season for me this year. I won't have to go far to find just about anything and everything on my holiday list. My tiny little town in the suburbs of Nashville has a fabulous new retail shopping center. This incredible new open-air shopping experience isn't completely finished and I'm already loving it. It is so convenient to anyone living in all but the west of Nashville. I personally plan on staying as far away from the large indoor malls as I can.

I suggest putting on some comfortable shoes, grabbing some bottled water and the shopping list. I think I'll stuff a granola bar or two, maybe a piece of fruit in my car-stash-bag. I'll be by to pick you up around 7 o'clock. ( Yes, that's a.m.) Are you hungry in the mornings? I think I may take you out to breakfast at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant and Country Store first, we'll need the energy you know! After all, it is just across the street from the gorgeous new Providence MarketPlace on Mt. Juliet Road. While we're eating and having our coffee, we can make our decision on which store to go to first. I think I'll have to get some of my favorite stocking stuffers and food gifts while we're at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant and Country Store. That will be several items I can mark off of my list.

The Cracker Barrel Restaurant and Country Store is a mini bargain-packed store with unusual finds. I love shopping there as much as I love eating there. It is like taking a step back in time with nostalgic gifts and a great variety of old-fashioned candies and fudge. If you're looking for a unique gift for someone, you can probably find it here and you won't have to spend a fortune. Do you have someone on your list that enjoys Cracker Barrel's country cuisine? They have food gift sets to give the country cook. They also have fabulous iron cookware to make the gift set even more special. It's time to head across the street before it gets too crowded.

The stores are all new at Providence MarketPlace, so they have not had a "Christmas past," but I'm certain they will all have special holiday hours. All of the stores in our Nashville area have super-extended hours for Black Friday! Some opened so early last year, I remember thinking, "will anyone really go shopping at six a.m. on the day after Thanksgiving?" Let's check out Home Goods. They are basically in the same store as T.J. Maxx, but one side is clothing and the other side is just as the name applies, interior home decor. You can find wonderful sales at Home Goods and something to suit a variety of home decor tastes.

If there is a teenager on your gift list, then we'll just walk through to the other store section and visit T.J. Maxx. You are sure to find really cool clothes at an already discounted price for name brand labels. If it's the "in" look that your teen wants, you'll find it here. Of course, it's not just teenage clothing. It's for the whole family. They have great kids' clothes as well. The trick to finding good clothes at T.J. Maxx is to grab it while it's there. It is a hit or miss store and the items tend to move quickly.

If you still need to buy more for the teens, Old Navy is here. It seems to be another favorite for the young at heart. You can usually grab your teen several t-shirts in the styles they love and probably for "buy one, get one" specials. Sometimes it's " buy two get one free," or "buy one get one half price," etc. You'll find great bargains here.

Books A Million is a great place to shop for myself, I meant for the gift list. If we're not careful, we'll be in here all day and not finish our shopping! Wow, I am impressed with the gifts we found and even more impressed with the sale prices! This store has something for everyone and if you're not sure which book to get, just get them a gift certificate. Some people think gift certificates are too impersonal, but I disagree. It's so much more thoughtful and useful to let them pick their own. They also have "giftscriptions" available for magazine lovers. You pay for a gift certificate, and Books a Million puts a magazine catalog in a box for your gift recipient to choose their own magazine.

I know Best Buy is going to have fantastic sales. We can find any electronic gadgets, computer software for the kids and certainly good deals on big ticket items if they're on your list. So far, we are getting a lot of shopping done without driving any further than across a couple of parking lots!

While we are in this section of stores, on the other side of Best Buy is a newcomer to our area. Although Belk is not a huge department store, they have fantastic clothes. Belk has a great selection of women's wear and the children's clothing department is great! The men's department's not bad, either. They also have a small housewares' department with not so small sale prices! The entire store's sales of forty to fifty percent off are great. I'm also checking the clearance racks for great deals...yea, they're here as usual! Just in case you need a much bigger housewares' department, as well as more clothing, we'll head to the next big store.

Now it's time to get down to business and do some serious clothes shopping at J. C. Penney. This new store is so nice and they want our business! Sweaters for dad, sweaters for the husband, sweaters for everyone on your list. J. C Penney runs fantastic sales on the day after Thanksgiving.
I'm loving the fifty percent off regular prices! Of course the housewares department is great as always.

Let's stop in PetsMart and get all the pet's goodies. I could stay in here way too long also! They have the pet clothes, the pet beds, the pet toys and treats. Just about everything you need to complete the spoiling process!

Target always has lots of great sales on much sought after toys, games, c d's, house hold items, and a gallon of milk if you need it, too! Saves another stop elsewhere. Who doesn't love Target? There is really not much you can't get here. If you didn't get it yet, better get it here! This is a great place to get the wrapping paper and any holiday decorations you might want. The sales are plentiful, unfortunately not so for my energy. Have you had enough, too? Although there are many more stores at The Providence MarketPlace, I think it's time to call it quits for now, I'm seeing a nap in my future.
