Black, Gay Cambridge Mayor Haunted by the Press

He Provided Them with Expense Report and that was Not Enough

f.w.
The Mayor of Cambridge is openly gay and obviously black and has been haunted by the local press since he took up office in January 2006. Remind me please, what year is this? Ken Reeves is the first mayor of the country to be both gay and black.

Check out the US newspaper article in The Cambridge Chronicle. I thought we had a racist problem here in the US but this is like the middle-ages.

one headline
"Mayor blows travel dough, asks for more".

Even after this newspaper received his expense account and everything was proven to be above board it was not enough for them. The Chronicle runs regular articles about Ken Reeves and mostly leaning on the negative side. My own opinion is that is it journalistically irresponsible of the paper to present to its readers articles on "special interest groups"...black and gay.

The Editor of this newspaper Mr David Harris states that this matter is not over yet. "Think we're finished with the Mayor Ken Reeves travel expense story? " Nope ",he wrote on the paper's blog..."We've taken the liberty of making a map of all the places Reeves has been along with a timeline. And, yes, next week we'll have another Reeves story. We're not finished yet."

Once again I ask you to remind me what century this is?

  • The editor of the Cambridge Chronicle states "Nope, we're not finished with Reeves yet".
  • They have even gone to the trouble of drawing a map of every place the mayor visited
  • Gay, black and in power...leave him alone
Can anyone tell me what century we are living in?

This newspaper is behaving in a very undemocratic manner. Gays and colored people have enough to put up with and have had to fight for many years for their basic human rights andin order that racism or sexuality is not looked down or frowned upon.
I really find it hard to believe that the press association in this country will let this particular paper away with such behavior.

I find that today the media is very irresponsible in how they portray what they feel to be the truth. It's propaganda at it's best and racism and bigotry exists all over the world. Gays have been fighting for years for equal rights and I applaud the mayor, congratulations to him! As for the newspaper, we can only hope that the publc can make it's own opinion.

RACISM is not only in the US
How can this newspaper print this without being sued?
Racism in any form is very wrong.
