Black women don't need weave, we love weave. In fact, people ridicule me because I love braids and my natural hair is extremely long. My daughters have naturally long hair beyond their shoulder blades (we're black); so long hair is hereditary in the black race. Black women are intelligent, weave is convenient. We understand that excessive heat and hair products destroy hair. We use weave because we're versatile and can execute any style, colored, short or long, without the fears of destroying our natural hair. Black women's hair grows excessively without professional assistance or remedies.
Some black women cut their hair as a preference, not a curse. What type of God would curse black women, for those who infer that our African heritage hair is bad? I have five daughters. Three have naturally curly hair, similar to Jheri Curls; a perm would destroy their hair, surely this isn't good hair; this is pretty hair, so some blacks can't get perms. Weave has become my best beauty and time consuming friend. Weaves can be maintained for months without salon appointments. Weaves are costly, but simple math demonstrates either you'll pay a lump sum once every two to three months, or you'll pay every two weeks for salon services, which can be more expensive. Lastly, our weave is comparable to men's shoes, cars, rims, and suits that you all can't function without, and lets not forget the bling-bling. These are simply fashion statements, hair included. The Bible says let your beauty come from within, so judge by the heart because regardless of whose natural, weaved, short or long, if the heart is hideous, then that's just an ugly individual. Amen.
