Black History Month Events in Denver, Colorado

There are a lot of Black History events and exhibits for you and your Family to participate in. These events are taking place in Denver, Colorado. This is a great way to educate your children and even yourself about the History of well known African Americans.

Film Series: It's Black Entertainment! This runs from February 3, 10, 17 and 24, 6-8 p.m., Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library. The different movies available are: Uptown Saturday Night Tuesday, February 3, 6 p.m. A Raisin in the Sun Tuesday, February 10, 6 p.m. Sarafina! Tuesday, February 17, 6 p.m. The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman Tuesday, February 24, 6 p.m. The address for the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library is, 2401 Welton Street Denver, CO 80205.

Early Editions and Sequels, a Two-Part Exhibition of Sculpture and Discussions by Dr. Ella Maria Ray Early Editions: Artist Talk and Reception. Tuesday, February 3, 3-4:30 p.m. The first part is at the Auraria Library in the Metropolitan State College of Denver. The address is: 1100 Lawrence St., Denver. The second part Sequels: The Process of Analyzing Black Women Writers through Clay, Book Discussion is at Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library located at 2401 Welton Street Denver, CO 80205 Tuesday, February 17, 6:30-8 p.m.

2009 Juanita Ross Gray Community Service Award. Saturday, February 14, 1:30-3:30 p.m. This will be held at Ford-Warren Branch Library. An award will be presented in Juanita's name to an outstanding individual.

Celebrate Black History Month: Celebrate Music! February 17, 2008. This will be located at the Colorado Historical Society. This event is free with admission. The rates are: $7/Adults $6/Seniors (65+) $6/Students (with ID) $5/Children (6 -12) Free/Children (under 6) Free/Colorado Historical Society members Children 12 & under Free on Saturdays. The hours are Sunday 1:00pm and 3:00pm. The address is 1300 Broadway Denver 80203.

There is so much History out there to learn. This is a very important part to learn about our culture and what generations before us have accomplished.
