Black History Month is not only celebrated in the month of February, but what other month? It is questions like these that make Black History Month a notable method of remembering important people and events in African-American history. To help us remember more about Black History Month, here is a collection of ten trivia quiz questions that detail its history, its facts, and the important people associated with Black History Month.

1. Question: What month in the United Kingdom, is Black History Month celebrated in?

Answer: October! While it is celebrated in February within the United States, Black History Month is celebrated in October within the United Kingdom.

2. Question: What black newspaper was published from 1827 to 1829?

Answer: From 1827 to 1829, the Freedom's Journal was published in the north and then to African Americans throughout the country.

3. Question: Which race makes up the single largest racial minority in the United States?

Answer: African Americans! Since 1997, the United States has officially classified black people as African Americans. Since 1977, the United States has defined black people as A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa. Terms no longer in common use include mulatto and colored, as these terms were considered outmoded and gave way to the use of negro.

4. Question: Which political march was convened by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan in Washington, D.C. on October 16th, 1995?

Answer: The Million Man March! This march also was organized by Minister Benjamin Chavis Muhammad, who served as the National Director of the Million Man March. One and a half million black men later registered to vote in the months following this march. This march was later followed by the Million Woman March.

5. Question: Who was the head of the Women's Political Council on the night of Rosa Park's arrest?

Answer: Jo Ann Robinson! She was also a civil rights activist and educator in Montgomery, Alabama.

6. Question: Who has led the Congress of Racial Equality since 1968?

Answer: Roy Innis! He joined CORE's Harlem chapter in 1963. Later, in 1965, he was elected Chairman of Harlem CORE.

7. Question: In what year did President Abraham Lincoln issue the Emancipation Proclamation?

Answer: 1863! This was during the American Civil War, which was fought between 1861 and 1865.

8. Question: When is Eric Foner's birthday?

Answer: February 7, 1943, in New York City! He will be turning 66 this year.

9. Question: Where was Charles Harris Wesley born?

Answer: Louisville, Kentucky! Louisville is Kentucky's largest city, home to the Kentucky Derby.

10. Questions: Who was the first African-American to set foot in Puerto Rico?

Answer: Juan Garrido. He was a conquistador who belonged to Juan Ponce de León's entourage.
